Meeting Minutes
April 4, 2013

Opening:
The monthly meeting of the Moose Horn Amateur Radio Club was called to order at 1900 on April 4, 2013 by President John Pfeifer, WL7M, at the EOC in Soldotna.

Attendees:
John, WL7M;  Max, WA7B;  Bill, KL7RHJ;  Robert, KL2RU;  Vic, KL7VIC;  Skip, KL7NN; Huck, KL3IN; Ed, KL7UW; Ed, KL7EBE;  Chuck, NL7PW; Jim, K7CUT; Ron, W8PVZ and guests Tom Clyde and Ted Johnson.

A.        Approval of Agenda
The agenda was presented for informational purposes.

B.         Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the meeting held on March  7, 2013 were read.  Vic, KL7VIC, moved that the minutes be accepted, seconded by Huck, KL3IN, motion passed.

C.       Treasurer’s Report

D.     Old Business:
Ed Cole, KL7UW, discussed the Hamfest. It will be held at the EOC building on July, 13, 2013. Ed will begin planning the event and  get advertising to the Anchorage and Matanuska Clubs. A budget will be approved at the May meeting.

Field Day: A suggestion was made that we consider having the event near the Wal-Mart store in Kenai or some place with more public visibility.  Someone should check out the area for radio interference. We need to make a decision at the May or June meeting for sure.

Chuck, NL7PW, reminded attendees that a new home for the IRLP was needed and that the vertical antenna for this system needed to be removed from tower at Don Merry’s home.

The Alaska State QSO Party was held on March 23. Vic, KL7VIC, said he participated.

Vic, KL7VIC, said that he is continuing to work on the replacement axles for the tower trailer. He has had had to buy some new hubs and bearings and will need to buy some square tubing as he continues to modify the trailer. He presented an invoice for $197.46, requesting reimbursement. Vic estimated that he will still spend approximately $200 more before the project is complete. Huck, KL3IN moved we reimburse Vic for the present expenses as well as whatever the future expense will be, seconded by Max, WA7B, motion passed.

Bill, KL7RHJ, said there will not be Soldotna Safety Day’s event this year.
·         Highway clean-up scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2013
·         A Testing session to be held on Friday, May 3, 2013…time and location to be determined.
·         Vic, KL7VIC provided contacts in Homer and Seward that could check out the ham stations at the hospitals.
·         Bill, KL7RHJ will provide Security at the Soldotna Hospital with the names of local hams that may want a hospital badge so they can access the building to operate the ham station.

No further business was brought forward and Vic, KL7VIC moved to adjourn at 1945.seconded by Max, WA7B, motion passed.

H.    Program:
Huck, KL3IN showed the remainder of the antenna video.
